Latter Ladders

All right Stuart, do you want the ladder or the rope?
I'll have the latter, Ace.
Here's the ladder.
No, I want the latter of the two.
What? I gave you the ladder of the two. I'll carry the rope.
Well I want the rope!
Then why did you ask for the ladder?
I didn't! I asked for the latter.
No, you just asked for the rope!
Because the rope is the latter!
No, the ladder is the ladder!
What are you talking about Master Ace!?
Listen, it's very simple Stuart. This here's a ladder and this is the rope.
Okay, got it.
So do you want the ladder or the rope?
I'll have the latter.
All right, then. Here's the ladder.
But I wanted the rope!
Then why'd you ask for the ladder?
I didn't, I asked for the latter!
That's what I said!
No, you said ladder!
That's right. Now then, position the ladder right there.
Why I oughta--
Good. Now we'll each climb up.
Fine.
Do you want to climb the ladder or the rope, Stuart?
I'll climb the latter.
Very well then, I'll climb the rope.
What are you doing that for! I said I wanted to climb the rope!
No, you said you wanted to climb the ladder!
Latter!
Exactly. So I'm going to climb the rope.
No, I am!
Fine, you climb the rope and I'll climb the ladder.
Good.
All right, do you want to pack the ladder out of here, or the rope?
I'll carry the latter.
You sure? It's heavier.
What are you talking about? The latter's way lighter than the ladder.
What? the ladder weighs the exact same as the ladder!
Hey, what are you talking about?
Ugh. Ok, do you want the ladder or the rope? We need to get out of here.
I'll take the latter.
Are you sure? It weighs more.
No, the rope weighs less.
That's what I'm saying.
Gak! Master Ace. I'll take the rope.
Thought you wanted the ladder.
I do want the latter, that's why I'm taking the rope.
If you want the ladder then take the ladder.
But I don't want the ladder.
Then why do you keep asking for it!?
I don't! I keep asking you to hand the rope.
Well here's the rope.
Thank you. Was it that hard to give me the latter?
Now wait a minute, I didn't give you the ladder.
Yes you did, I'm holding it right here!
That's the rope.
I know!
All right, are you happy with the rope?
Yes. I asked for the latter and I got the latter didn't I? Why wouldn't I be happy?
Because that's the rope! You asked for the ladder and got the rope!
But I didn't want the ladder, I wanted the rope.
Okay, well you have the rope.
Yes I do.
Then what'd you go asking for the ladder for?
I never asked for the ladder, I asked for the rope.
What do you mean you never asked for the ladder? You asked for it a million times!
No, I asked for the latter--
That's what I'm saying!
And I got the latter.
That's the rope!!
I know this is the rope!
Then why did you ever call it a ladder?
I never called the rope a ladder! That would be stupid.
I know! But you keep doing it anyway.
Keep doing what?
Asking for the ladder.
Of course I keep asking for the latter! I want the rope don't I?
If you want the rope, then why do you ask for the ladder?
Because the latter is the rope! I keep trying to tell ya.
The ladder is not the rope! I keep trying to tell ya!
I know the ladder isn't the rope! That's why I asked for the latter instead of the ladder!
Why on earth would you want a ladder instead of a ladder!?
I don't want the ladder instead of the ladder, I want the rope instead of the ladder!
Then why keep asking me to give you the ladder?
I didn't, I asked for the rope.
Gak! Nevermind. You can carry both of them, stooge.
But I only wanted to carry the latter.
Then I'll take the rope.
You take the ladder, I'll take the rope.
Okay, I'll take the ladder.
Good.
Gak! Let's just get out of here.
Good.
When we get back to the time travelling pogo sticks we have somethings we need to do.
Like what?
Well, do you want to fix the navigation or fill out the paperwork?
The former.
You want to deal with the forms? Fine by me, I'll do the navigation.
But I wanted to do the navigation!
Then why did you ask for the forms!?
I asked for the former!
I kno--Oh. I see.

Ace and Stuart 7

Adventure Seven: The magician from Quest to Ingredient Three
“Look Master Ace, a space station!”
“Of course there’s a space station Stuart! I totally knew it was there this whole time.”
“How could you know? We’re on another planet!”
“Don’t question me Stuart! Just get out of the golf cart and follow me.”
“Okay, Sir.”
“There’s a rocket inside that station.”
“I’ve never driven a rocket before!”
“And as long as I live, you never will.”
“But it’s on my bucket list!”
“You actually keep a bucket list, Stuart? That is so lame.”
“Being your stooge is on my bucket list. I checked it off six adventures ago.”
“I’m going to pretend you never mentioned this bucket list.”
“Master Ace,”
“What is it Stuart?”
“I have a bucket list.”
“Stuart! I just said to forget all about it.”
“No, you said that you forgot about it. So I’m reminding you.”
“Why do you have to be so incompetent, Stuart?”
“I am not! I was just trying to remind you, because you forgot.”
“I don’t forget things, Stuart. I am a Master. Some things--”
“But you just said you were going to forget about my bucket list.”
“Don’t interrupt me! Get inside the rocket.”
“Sorry Master Ace. Want me to help you up?”
“No, just make your way to the cockpit, I’m going to launch this baby.”
“Silly Ace, this is a rocket not a baby!”
“That’s not what I meant, Stuart!”
“Then why’d you say it?”
“Stuart, I am so not in the mood for these games of yours.”
“Oh, this isn’t a game, Master Ace.”
“Forget about it. Grab that for me will you.”
“Monopoly is a game. I always lose when I play against you, though.”
“I cheat. Push that button. We’re out of here.”
“Operation is a game too, but it’s so loud!”
“Remind me never to let you operate on me. We have take off!”
“Clue just takes forever.”
“Stuart, are you going to keep talking, or are you going to help me fly this rocket.”
“Fly the rocket! That’s on my bucket list!”
“I know, you mentioned that already, Stuart.”
“Just making sure you didn’t forget again, Master Ace.”
“Now, where are we going to find that Thaumaturge?”
“You mean the magician?”
“Yes, Stuart, I mean the magician. Geez.”
“Then why didn’t you just say magician?”
“I asked him the same question. Now answer mine. Where is he?”
“There’s a big sign next to that deathstar. It says the magician is there.”
“That’s no deathstar. It’s a moon!”
“Wait a minute Ace, I think we said that backwards.”
“You’re right. Do you want to try again?”
“Yes please. I’ll start. Ahem. There’s a sign by the cantelope.”
“You’re done. Fly us over to the cantelope.”
“You mean deathstar?”
“No, I mean moon. Leave me alone Stuart!”
“Heh heh. Sorry.”
“Great we landed. I always hate travelling through space. It makes me hungry for pandas.”
“Do you think this could be a trap?”
“It’s most certainly a trap, Stuart! How stupid do you think I am?”
“If it’s a trap, why are we going in?”
“Oh. I didn’t think that far ahead...”
“Master Ace, look!”
“Not more cookies!”
“No, it’s the magician.”
“I knew that. Hand me a magic wand. I’ve always wanted to duel.”
“I don’t have a wand!”
“Stuart, why don’t you have a wand?”
“Because I wanted to see what would happen if I threw something out the rocket window.”
“So you through a magic wand!?”
“Well, yeah! What else would I throw? A fake wand?”
“Nevermind, we will discuss this later.”
“So, Ace, how do we defeat a wizard?”
“Do you have anything in your pockets that could help us?”
“I don’t know off the top of my head. Oh wait, I have a banana!”
“Does it have magical properties, Stuart?”
“No, that’s stupid. It’s a banana.”
“Then why did you say it could help?”
“I’m hungry.”
“I’m going to try talking to the wizard.”
“Should I open my banana from the bottom? or the top?”
“Magician! I, Master Ace, call on you. Answer my questions!”
“Hello Ace! I am the great thaumaturge!”
“Why did you erase our memories?”
“For fun.”
“Why would...wait. For fun? That’s stupid!”
“What. Did you expect it to be for some extravagant reason?”
“Yes, actually.”
“Oh. So this climax is a little lame, then, huh?”
“Pretty much. I can’t believe a magic-wielder like yourself did this for kicks and giggles.”
“Gottcha Ace! I didn’t do it for fun! I was kidding.”
“Oh. That’s really dumb. Well, what did you do it for, then?”
“You went on a Quest, to a kingdom, fought a dragon, and killed me.”
“If you died, how are you here?”
“I’m magic, duh.”
“Okay... ”
“Well Ace, I didn’t want you to remember the pleasure of killing me.”
“You are definitely the worst villain I’ve ever come up against.”
“Ouch. Really? The worst?”
“Yeah, the worst badguy I have ever come up against.”
“You don’t mean that, Ace.”
“I don’t? Yeah I do.”
“I am all powerful! I’m so cool! Say I’m cool!”
“I don’t lie, sorry.”
“Ace, I hereby banish you back in time!”
“You can do that?”
“Oh yeah. I can do that.”
“Where are you sending me?”
“I’m sending you and Stuart back in time to your very first adventure!”
“So what?”
“I’m going to kill your old selves. This you will never exist.”
“What!?”
“How bad am I now, Ace?”

Ace & Stuart 6

Adventure Six: ACE AND STUART RIDE AGAIN In…
Ace & Stuart
vs
Cookies from planet Milk
“Master Ace? Is that you?”
“Stuart, you have eyes, what do you think?”
“Sorry, Ace.”
“Stuart, I have a new job for you.”
“Really! Thanks so much Ace! I will treasure up this calling until--”
“Stuart! You don’t get to talk redundantly, remember?”
“Sorry, Ace. What’s my new job?”
“Navigator! Congratulations.”
“Awesome!”
“Well? Where are we?”
“Oh, that’s what navigator means.”
“Oh dear, Stuart. Now please, where are we?”
“I don’t even remember how we got here Ace!”
“Neither do I. Last I remember we were visiting my mother...”
“Me, too! That’s so strange.”
“There’s only one answer to this problem.”
“Just one, Ace?”
“Somebody has wiped our memory!”
“Our memory? But Master Master Ace, what will we do?”
“Don’t Call Me That! You know never to use my full name!”
“Sorry, Master, I guess I’m just a little worked up. I mean, we don’t know what happened to us!”
“Stop talking.”
“But don’t you see? It’s all so stran--”
“Quiet! Stuart, did you feel that?”
“Feel what?”
“The ground just moved.”
“Master Ace, will you hold my hand?”
“Of course not.”
“I’m scared.”
“Man up Stuart. I’m trying to observe.”
“Oh good. We’ll be out of here in no time. You have the best observation skills in--”
“Stuart, we aren’t on our home world.”
“What do you mean we--”
“Look at the ground. It’s grey!”
“Gak!”
“Stuart! What have I told you about using real words?”
“Sorry Master Ace, it’s just...this is a different planet!”
“Stuart, do you see that face appearing in the clouds?”
“Yeah.”
“I’m going to try to communicate with it. I want you to stop talking.”
“Okay, Master Ace, good luck.”
“Hello face in the clouds! Who are you?”
“Don’t you remember me Ace?”
“No, not you!”
“Yes, me. Hahaha.”
“The magician from our Quest to Ingredient Three!”
“I told you I’d find you Ace. There will be no adventurers!”
“I might not have fully believed you...”
“Believe me now, Master Ace!”
“Okay. What do you want?”
“I’ve erased your memory of all events that occurred in the last month.”
“Why? What happened you would care so much for us to forget?”
“If I wanted you to know that, I wouldn’t have erased your memory.”
“Magician, so help me!”
“I’ve transported you here to this planet. I, of course, am not on it.”
“Then where are you?”
“Ah Master Ace, you should not be worrying about me.”
“And why’s that?”
“I suppose because you should be worrying about the natives that are standing right behind you.”
“Natives? We’re on a foreign planet!”
“And those are the foreigners. Ta-ta Master Ace.”
“Ta-ta. I mean, wait. Stuart, what’s he talking about?”
“Well Master Ace, I think he aims to kill us.”
“Or does he? And my fine stooge, what was he talking about. Something about natives?”
“Oh. He’s probably referring to the aliens right behind us.”
“Aliens? What are you talking about?”
“Well Master Ace, they look like cookies. But I doubt they’re edible.”
“Cookies? Stuart, if you don’t start making sense, I’m going to--”
“Please don’t! I was just talking about the space cookies behind us.”
“Gak! Space Cookies! Stuart, why didn’t you just say there were angry cookies behind us.”
“Because that sounded stupid, Sir.”
“Nevermind, we’ll argue this later.”
“Fine with me. What are we doing right now?”
“Running! This is not how I die!”
“And how do you die, Master Ace?”
“Ugh. Probably of stupid questions posed by my blasted stooge.”
“You have another stooge?”
“Stuart, I was talking about you.”
“Oh. Oh!”
“Keep running Stuart, the cookie people are gaining on us.”
“We can’t just run forever!”
“Right. First, kill the cookies, then we find the magician, thus getting our memories back.”
“Okay Master Ace. How do we do either of those things?”
“One thing at a time, Stuart. Knock it off.”
“Sorry. One thing at a time. How do we kill the cookies?”
“Don’t pester me Stuart, just keep running.”
“Do you have a plan?”
“Yes. And it’s fool-guaranteed.”
“We’re saved! And don’t you mean fool proof?”
“No, because the plan requires a fool.”
“Are you just assuming one of the cookies is a fool?”
“No Stuart, I don’t know if any of the cookies are fools.”
“Then where are we going to find a fool to help your plan?”
“I’m talking to one right now.”
“That doesn’t make sense, though, Master Ace, because you’re talking to me.”
“Bing Bing Bing Bing!”
“Ouch. That hurt Master Ace.”
“Stuart, you don’t get to feel offended.”
“Why not?”
“Because you’re a stooge.”
“Oh. I guess I missed that in the Job Description.”
“What are you talking about?”
“When I took this job I read the Job Description for it a hundred times.”
“So what Stuart, I couldn’t care less about your reading habits.”
“I read it so many times. How did I miss that part about offense?”
“We don’t have time for this! And by the way, it was under the Terms and Conditions.”
“That explains it.”
“Now, to deal with these cookies.”
“Via the fool. What’s the plan?”
“Do you have a gun in your pocket?”
“Never! That could hurt someone!”
“Great! Then how are we going to kill these?”
“I have milk.”
“You have a cup of milk in your pocket?”
“A cup? I don’t have a cup of milk.”
“What? Stuart, you just said that you had milk in your pocket.”
“Yeah, a gallon of it.”
“You have a gallon of milk in your pocket?”
“Technically two.”
“And how is milk going to help us defeat a cookie army?”
“I don’t know. We could eat them, or crumble them in milk.”
“I have a better idea. Lets eat them.”
“I just said--”
“Quiet Stuart, when I say a good idea, don’t talk for a moment. It gives my idea better effect.”
“Terms and Conditions again? Sorry, Sir. Here’s the milk.”
“Thanks. I hope you’re hungry.”
“Actually, I’m not really.”
“Stuart, it’s an order. You’re hungry now.”
“Well when you’re hungry, you’re hungry, right?”
“Affirmative, stop running. About face. Attack!”
“Attacking, Sir!”
“Great, this one is snickerdoodle!”
“Mmm, and this is chocolate chip!”
“Stuart, that’s not chocolate chip.”
“What do you mean?”
“Nevermind. Let’s just get off this stupid planet.”
“Okay. Lead the way boss.”
“Give me a space rover.”
“I don’t have a space rover!”
“What do you have? I’m not walking anymore Stuart.”
“Here’s a golf cart...”
“I’ll drive. Jump in! Stuart, you are navigator again.”
“That means I’m in charge of the music, right?”
“Stuart, how many times do I have to tell you what navigator means?”
“I don’t know, Ace. I’m not very good at these guessing games.”
“No, it’s not. Nevermind. Just give me directions.”
“I can do that! Where do you want directions to?”
“Some way off this rock.”

Ace & Stuart: Adventure Five: Quest to Solve A Murder

Author's Note: This is one day late. We apologize. Reason? Flippy the elf is to blame. Not that we authors cast blame...
Flippy was up all night running around my house with a screwdriver. He continually sunk the tool into my favorite pillows all over the house. Finally I stopped him by throwing a laptop at him. Thus I had to buy a new laptop, and wasn't able to post on Saturday.
Sorrry.

Adventure Five: Quest to Solve A Murder

“Master Ace?”
“I assume you want to know why we’re boarding this ship, Stuart?”
“Yeah. That’s exactly what I want to know.”
“Well, I figured as much. Does it really matter?”
“Dang. I must be becoming predictable.”
“Oh dear. It’s all right!”
“Really?”
“Stuart, don’t question me. Just because I know you’re always going to ask what’s going on, doesn’t mean you’re predictable.”
“Gee, that means a lot.”
“Besides, you aren’t predictable at all. Have you seen your pockets lately?”
“Wow. I guess that’s unique.”
“And certainly unpredictable.”
“Still, why are we boarding this boat?”
“We need to travel across the seas.”
“Why?”
“Gak! It doesn’t matter.”
“Sorry. I just want to know what’s happening. We have all the ingredients, don’t we?”
“Of course. Now we need to actually go and cook the cake. I’m starving!”
“How do we cook cake?”
“There’s no better place than a volcano!”
“Wow! We’re really going to cook cake in a volcano?”
“No.”
“But you said--”
“We’re travelling by boat to a very special place.”
“And where’s that?”
“My mother’s house: Finest bakery in all the world.”
“I think that’s a matter of opinion, Master Ace.”
“Perhaps. But if anyone can cook this cake to what it needs to be, it’s her.”
“Okay. That’s fine with me.”
“I’m so glad you approve. Not. Now bring our luggage.”
“Do you want the luggage in the closet?”
“Fine, fine. It’s nearly dark. Get ready for bed.”
“I call top bunk!”
“Don’t be so childish. Besides, I get top bunk.”
“But Master Ace, I called it!”
“You are my stooge! Don’t forget that.”
“Sorry. I didn’t really want the top bunk anyway...”
“Then it’s settled. I’m going to bed.”
“So am I.”
“Think again Stuart.”
“I’m not going to bed?”
“Of course not. You’re going to go get me a glass of water.”
“Okay, Master Ace.”
“So long Stuart. Hurry back. I’m thirsty.”
“So long. Gee! It’s pretty cold out here. Hey! Who goes there? Master Ace, help!”
“Stuart? Why’d you come back in here. I sent you to get me water.”
“I was. I mean I did. Well, then I...and it was awful!”
“I have no idea what you’re blabbering on about!”
“Help, Master Ace!”
“With what Stuart? Calm down. What happened?”
“You told me to get water,”
“Which you didn’t.”
“And I went outside.”
“Then what?”
“Something awful. There were these men. They were fighting.”
“Okay. Their fighting scared you? Is that why you’re here?”
“No, no, no! One of them stabbed the other! I swear it Master Ace!”
“Hold on! Stabbed? A murder on the ship? That’s dreadful!”
“I know! Please, Master Ace! We have to help.”
“That’s obvious. We must investigate.”
“Should I tell the captain?”
“No, no. We have no idea who is in on this. This takes priority!”
“Priority over what?”
“The quest for cake must be put on hold. We need to solve this mystery!”
“A real life mystery? On board the ship! Just like Sherlock Holmes.”
“Good idea. You can be Stuart Watson Stooge.”
“And you’ll be Master Master Sherlock Ace.”
“Just Master Ace. Now lets investigate!”
“Here’s where it happened Master Ace.”
“And you’re positive of what you saw last night?”
“Definitely. Down to the ketchup I remember every detail!”
“Ketchup? What are you talking about Stuart?”
“The ketchup on the ground right there. It fell from the killer’s pocket.”
“Say what? Interesting. There really is ketchup here on the dock.”
“Just how I saw it.”
“Our first clue!”
“Yay! Now what?”
“We try to decide who would be holding ketchup.”
“Somebody who works in the kitchens might.”
“That would explain how they got a knife too! To the kitchen!”
“To the kitchen! After you Master Ace!”
“Of course it’s after me!”
“Eww! The kitchen smells bad.”
“Plug your nose.”
“No need.”
“What? The smell not affecting you anymore?”
“No, I just found this gas mask in my pocket.”
“Naturally. Now look around.”
“What are we looking for?”
“I don’t know. The murder weapon, the murderer, other clues.”
“How about the body?”
“Yes, that too.”
“Okay.”
“Out of curiosity, why do you ask?”
“Nothing. There was just this man sleeping in the fridge over there.”
“Show me! Stuart, that man is dead!”
“Eek! Call the police!”
“Keep your voice down! Help me investigate the body.”
“Brrr! It’s cold in here, Master Ace!”
“It is a bit chilly. Hey! Don’t close the fridge door!”
“Master Ace! Somebody just locked us in here!”
“Blast! The murderer knows we’re onto them.”
“We’re going to freeze to death!”
“Nobody is going to die,”
“Except that man!”
“Give me a boost Stuart!”
“Okay. Is that high enough?”
“Great! I’ve almost removed this panel!”
“I can’t feel my toes, Master Ace!”
“Stop whining. There! I got the panel.”
“Help! Master Ace!”
“What? The body is moving!? How is that possible? It’s dead!”
“It has my ankle!”
“For crying out loud. Grab my hand.”
“Whew! Thanks.”
“I’m going to boost you out through the panel.”
“1...3...1...2...”
“Where’d you learn to count?”
“Elementary--”
“Nevermind. Crawl down the shaft you’re in, and open up this fridge!”
“Aye Aye!”
“As for you, victim. We’re going to get you warm. Then you and I are going to have a talk.”
“Master Ace! The door is open!”
“Great, Stuart! Now help me carry this poor victim to our room!”
“Wow. Bodies are kinda heavy.”
“Certainly doesn’t help that he’s almost completely iced over!”
“Where should we set him?”
“Right over there.”
“On my bed!?”
“There. Now fetch something to unfreeze him with.”
“Will this do?”
“A flamethrower? Of course not! We want to unfreeze him, not kill him!”
“How about this?”
“A blow drier? That’ll work.”
“It was in my pocket.”
“Go grab a blanket from the closet, too.”
“Right away, Sir!”
“Hurry up!”
“Here you go, Master Ace!”
“Don’t give it to me. You’re going to unfreeze the man while I sit here and watch.”
“This may take a while.”
“We have time.”
“There, I’m finished!”
“You said it was going to take a while!”
“This was a blow drier 900.”
“That doesn’t even make sense. Whatever.”
“What now Sherlock?”
“You go sit in the corner while I talk to him.”
“Why do I have to sit in the corner?”
“Because you called my Sherlock, and because I say so!”
“Okay. Bye!”
“Sorry about him. My name is Master Ace.”
“Nice to meet you.”
“What’s your name?”
“Phillip O’dale.”
“What were you doing in that freezer Mr. Odale?”
“I was stabbed last night.”
“Terribly sorry about that. How--”
“Before you continue, I have one question.”
“What can I do for you?”
“How did you find me?”
“Stuart over there saw you get stabbed last night.”
“I see. That kinda makes things clearer for me.”
“Good. I see you have healed up nicely since that happened.”
“The wound froze.”
“Wow. That’s pretty lucky.”
“With all due respect, this isn’t a very good investigation.”
“What? Why not?”
“This is a bad interrogation.”
“Oh give me a break! I’m a first timer.”
“That explains a lot. Any further questions?”
“Who did it?”
“I’m afraid I can’t tell you that.”
“What why not?”
“Goodbye Mister Ace.”
“Stuart! Come here. Hurry up!”
“Where’d that man go?”
“Our victim refuses to talk. Once again, we’re on our own.”
“Darn! What do we do now?”
“Back to the kitchen!”
“Back to the kitchen!”
“Must you copy me every time I claim we’re off to the kitchen?”
“Sorry. Lets go.”
“Shh!”
“What is it?”
“I hear voices in the kitchen.”
“Master Ace! I hear them too.”
“Sounds like arguing.”
“I recognize those voices!”
“You do? Where from?”
“Last night! That’s them arguing again!”
“I’m going to risk peeking through the window.”
“Good luck.”
“You’re right, Stuart. That’s definitely the victim. I can’t get a good look at the other man.”
“He’s definitely the murderer.”
“Are you ready?”
“For what?”
“On three I’m going to open this door, and we’re going to tackle both of them!”
“1...3...1...2...”
“Now, now, now!”
“I gotcha! Hello again Mr. O’dale!”
“And I have this other guy! I want you to tie up Mr. O’dale so he can’t run off again.”
“Okay. I’ll use this rope from my pocket.”
“Good work. Now as for my captive.”
“He’s wearing a mask!”
“Obviously. Now tie him up too!”
“There we go! Two tied up people.”
“Stuart, are you ready to solve this crime?”
“Is it over? Seriously? It just started!”
“That did end rather quickly. I must be an amazing detective!”
“Only explanation, I’m sure.”
“Now to find out who our murderer is!”
“He isn’t a murderer.”
“What do you mean he isn’t?”
“The man he tried to kill isn’t dead. That just makes him--”
“An attempted murderer!”
“Right. That’s what I was going to say.”
“What? Are you pouting about being predictable again?”
“Maybe. So what if I am?”
“Nevermind. Pull off the murderer’s mask.”
“Ta-da! Behold the bad guy!”
“It’s...”
“It’s who?”
“That’s just the problem, Stuart. I have no idea who this guy is!”
“Neither do I.”
“Blast! I really hoped the murderer would be someone I knew.”
“Someone like?”
“I don’t know! A character from one of our past adventures or something.”
“Oh. I suppose that would’ve been cool.”
“Nevermind. Get the captain. This thing is over.”
“I have an idea!”
“What is it? Another idea about the book you’re supposed to be writing.”
